you never know what props you will find down the block.

"Gonna find me a mercury and cruise it up and down the road.  crazy 'bout a mercury."

Isn't this car so cool.  I love the attention to detail old classics have.  Look at the taillights and the awesome emblem.  I bet this car has some really great stories to tell.  Growing up in my small Montana town, the slightly larger town next to us, had a main street that ran pretty much the length of the town right smack through the middle.  In high school, the cool thing to do on the weekends, was to cruise this strip, there was even a roundabout at one end to turn around and head back the other direction, of course none of us were driving classic cars.  this was social media before social media, long before cell phones.  I sound really old don't I?

I've also taken a liking to distressing my own jeans.  and I fear no pair is safe.  it is very therapeutic.  I want to shred every knee, it is definitely addicting.  I really love the distressed look and just hate the idea of paying so crazy much for them.  so why not just destroy what I already have in my closet.  this was a plain old pair of dark denim that had been sitting at the bottom of my jean pile for a long time.  with a few precise holes and tears, their status has been elevated.

come on kimono {what i wore}

floor length kimono

fashion obsession confession:  did I mention this one already?  once there was this really cool mom, at soccer practice {so cliche I know}, and she had on the most rad, or raddest?, floor length red kimono.  its been tucked in the back of my mind in my fashion obsession file every since.  and can you believe I {well Jenn actually} stumbled upon this one at H&M.

kimono

suede booties

and my shorts - prized Levi's that were actually cut by my moms own hands in the 70's.  wardrobe treasures, even if the 3rd button down on the button fly likes to pop open occasionally.

tunic time {what i wore}

a great tunic is so versatile...over flared jeans, skinny jeans, with opaque tights and heels, leggings and boots, as a beach cover-up.  what I particularly love is how wonderful it is on those days you just don't feel like your butt wants that much attention.  I feel like this may have been something I have already said before.  but its late, and I'm saying it again.  a good tunic rocks.  its like a fashiony forward friend of the baggy t-shirt.  which of course I looooove.  don't even get me started.  another post.

back to my roots in a pinstripe leopard sort of way {what i wore}

well I said I would not jump back on the overall bandwagon.

Not sure why I was so adamantly against, having had some treasured overalls in the past - I mean not just denim, black corduroy from the gap, my prized Esprit acid-washed pair from my parents, the well worn calvin klein version, and don't forget all the countless pairs as a toddler - and all so comfy and easy.

but then I saw tifforelie wearing these and I was sort of smitten, and then when I spotted them on hautelook for 50% off it just had to happen.  and holy smokes they are so comfortable.  I can't wait to wear this summer with tank tops and sandals.  I already wore them to disneyland with a big slouchy tee and oxfords.  so yes I am a fan.

t-shirt - Bobi, Queen Anne Dispatch {also find here}
overalls - free people {also here on sale, I scored them on hautelook 50% off!}

just daydreaming other future pairings...

cheese with a sure chance of cupcakes. {what i wore}

this past week, although under sad circumstances, we were able to head back to our beloved Seattle area for a few days, to be with family and friends, soak up the moss covered sidewalks {do you see that lovely lush greenness?!}, breathe in the fresh rain cleansed air, and appreciate some of our favorite local foods with a few of our favorite people.  we dusted off our rain boots, dug out our winter coats and did our best to eat at as much as possible.

and because I feel like these all need a shout out, our food tour went a little something like this :
delfinos stuffed spinach pizza. lots of seattle starbucks, trust me its just different near the mothership.  shopped for dinner essentials at the met market - for the best house-made mozzarella, house made crostini, and they also happen to sell rachel's ginger beer - nothing better for a moscow mulepagliacci pizzatrophy cupcakesla reve bakery - I can never choose. cupcake royalemolly moons - who first introduced me to a scoop of ice cream over piping hot fresh oatmeal, for breakfast, life changer. Din Tai Fung. and essential baking company - really the best organic mocha I've had to date.

so its a good thing these pants are stretchy.
