one pair of shoes - a lovely metallic oxford.  two girls.  styled four ways.

outfit #1 - packing light.  when your party of five {did we mention Jenn is a mom of 3, get out i know} is traveling via airplane for their holiday destination you need items that can do double time and carry their own without the need to extra accessories.  like this sweater/shoe combo.

outfit #2 - perking up the pre-holiday to-do list scramble outfit.  so this is what happens when you take pictures first thing in the morning.   you sort of look like you should be back in bed.  but I was off to tackle whole foods the day before thanksgiving with two little ones in tow.  this is when you need function over fashion.  luckily with these shoes I had both.

outfit #3 - so are the 90's to our children what the 80's were to us?  this is a bit nostalgic, hello empire records?  some plaid, a leather mini, sub metallic oxfords for doc martens.  and alas we are still modern.

outfit #4 - too hip to be square?  I don't know.  I just really liked how the oxfords gave this blazer/lace/pj pant trio the right feel.  heels would have made it "done up" a lot more than I was going for and ballet flats wouldn't have been enough, and I felt this outfit was too light and airy for booties.  so it just worked.

those golden moments {what i wore}

california has been giving us some amazing days.  not hot {thank goodness.}, but warm - when the sun kisses your cheeks, with the crispness of fall in the mornings and evenings.  its what you would hope for in an indian summer.

not exactly what I think of when Thanksgiving is days away.  perhaps this is why I walked into trader joes, saw their sign "3 days till thanksgiving" and the throngs of people, and was completely shocked.

I was just there for milk and bagels, and those peppermint white chocolate covered pretzel thins.  oh lord.

so here we go.

I am blown away and humbled by how much I am thankful for.

tribal hunt

confession time:  this is usually how an obsession starts for me.  I spy someone looking fabulous.  in this case - a fellow soccer mom had this awesome long, like past the knees, tribal print sweater.  it was slimming but substantial, great print.  and the daydreaming begins.  hers was from last season = no longer available.  but I'm a hunting...

this was what I found in the billabong store.  good fit but not long enough.

this is the one I am loving, but I feel like its too big.  especially in this milder climate I'm in.  NYC for sure.  SoCal, perhaps not.  but its still my current fave so stay tuned.  nevermind my fuschia shirt and crazy hair. 

these are other sweaters options...

1} although more of a jacket than a sweater, I love the leather detailing and the print, the oversized collar and structure.
2} I am always a sucker for cuffs.  and fringe.  currently sold out. boo.
3} not sure I love this print, but the length is great, and the price.

1} love this oversized collar on the sweater, and the cuffs again.  I will definitely be trying this one.
2} oddly, this is the sweater I am wearing up above, a lot baggier on the model.
3} great print, could be long enough.  forever 21 can be a hit or miss.  worry about the wearing quality...

1} this color combo is fantastic, and a great fit.  if this sweater were below the knees it would be the front runner.
2} again over sized collar and cuffs, and although not long I really like it.
3} could this be a more fitted version of my love up above?

so this quest continues.  any suggestions??  which is your favorite?

next time, polaroids! {what I wore}

hmmm.  welcome to one of the most boring outfits I've worn in a long time.  even the turquoise shoes barely add pizazz.  and its wrinkled.  but it is what it is.  and some days are just that.  

I actually really love this sweater and these trouser pants, just not together next time.  funny how you don't notice this in the mirror, only once reviewing the pictures.  made me think of that scene in clueless when Cher takes polaroids of all her potential outfits because she doesn't trust the mirror.  ha!

its about time we styled some jewelry {4 way friday}

two girls.  one necklace {plus maybe a couple more}.  styled 4 ways.

obviously, Jenn and I think accessorizing {boots, scarves, hats, jewelry} is a great way to take an outfit and make it fabulous.

I think its about time we styled jewelry pieces 4 ways.  we chose to style the Blake necklace.  it's simple yet sophisticated and can be worn alone or layered with other necklaces, and with a plethora of outfits.  also, with all the warmer gold tones that are showing up everywhere, its a great way to introduce gold into your wardrobe.  the gold chain is painted white, so the warmth is subtle but effective.   if you are a little hesitant but have been wanting to warm up your metals this is a great way to do it...

outfit #1 - brighten up the black and gray.  notice how the gold detailing in those fab over-the-knee boots is repeated in the jewelry.  this is a great way to lighten up a great black sweater for fall.

after dark {what i wore}

which is really like 6pm.  I'm not sure when daylight savings started to feel like major jetlag, but I'm ready to adjust already.  perhaps its the addition of kiddos who's internal clock does not recognize its too early to get out of bed, or the years of sleep lost.

but man I am grateful for them!  nothing quite like a 3yr old {only for two more months} walking into your room in the morning sticking his face right up to yours and asking every morning "is it my 'berfday' today?" followed by "is it 'chwistmas'?"  and so we just adapt with double shot double chocolate mochas and cozy sweaters.  {the track pants, ordering in navy today, and these boots.}
